Agapao Toy Appeal on Tour in Asda, Rawtenstall
The Rossendale Raadio volunteers were out in force again on Saturday together with the Agapao to raise awareness of Toy Appeal at Asda in Rawtenstall.
The Toy Appeal, which is organised by Agapao International, aims to provide Christmas gifts to children in the Rossendale area who otherwise might not be fortunate enough to receive any presents this year. Agapao have received nominations for gifts from many local organisations.
Valley Breakfast's Big H, newsreader Colin, presenters Dave Harvey, Shaun Smith, Pete Sweetmore and Catherine Dobson Cocklin encouraged shoppers at Asda to purchase an extra toy in their shopping whilst the station broadcast live across the store, taking requests from staff and customers alike.
'Customers were dancing and seemed to really enjoy the music and the atmosphere,' says Early Breakfast presenter, Shaun Smith. 'The donations filled trolleys with all kinds of gifts from baby toys to scooters, books and games. It was a truly humbling experience!'
104.7 Rossendale and Agapao International would like to thank everyone for their generosity, and if you missed the teams over the weekend, you can still donate toys at Asda or calling into our office at 12 Bury Road Haslingden and pop your present under the tree.
